Why?

Why: It’s not a question, but a lesson learned in time.*

We like stories. We also like to place meaning on events that happen to us. The narrative is where the transformation of why -from a question- into the how – a lesson- takes place. And just like that ‘why’ becomes the perfect narrator for my life story.

The answer to the question ‘why’ helps me understand myself; the answer gives me a reason for all that has happened and all that is happening in my life. Why helps me realize what I did and with what justification.

Through the synthesize and intricate weaving of these answers, ‘why’ transforms into the lessons that I have learnt in time.

Now, if you are wondering how much ‘truth’ is in this narrative, then this becomes a question for how we remember experiences and how we process symbols and meanings.

*Lyric from a Green Day Song: Good Riddance.
