Clothesline

You are my clothesline.
The anchor, to my waves.
The weight, to my restless tendencies.

I am a hurricane, and you are my shore.
I dream and fly, knowing all the while – with you I am safe.

No limit is too far,
Past the sun – into the stars;
I can dream, and wish,
and wonder how things are?

Never afraid to crash,
For I know you’ll catch –
Me and my dreams;

Setting me free to try again
– encouraging me to reach;

Tethered not bound
– held but not captive;

In the safety of your love,
I dare to choose
– again and again.
